From One Woman to Another
What is Birth Matters In Print? It’s a collection of stories,
articles, poetry, and news written by women for women. Birth
Matters Virginia is a non-profit group, which was formed as the
result of a merger of several smaller groups that had been working
independently for years in their home communities around the
state. Kindred spirits from Charlottesville, Lynchburg, Harrisonburg,
Purcellville and Winchester have combined forces with a common
mission of improving the culture of birth in Virginia. We offer
Birth Matters In Print with the hope that the sharing of our
personal journeys will provide pregnant women with the encouragement,
hope, and support they may need. |

Birth Matters Virginia
promotes an evidence-based model of maternity care. Put simply,
we believe that all maternity care decisions should be based on
solid research findings and in the best interest of the mother
and baby. We offer free childbirth classes, video series, lectures,
birth circles, an informative website, and this newsletter in our
communities. We welcome submissions from other women who have stories
to share and wisdom to spread. Women have connected through the
tradition of storytelling since time began. While we no longer
gather around the fire, side by side to tell our stories, we can
continue this tradition by typing on our laptops, and listening
to one another. So, settle in, get a warm
cup of tea, put your feet up and turn the page. |
